We are celebrating the intellectual legacy of our friends
Don Humberto Soto-Ricart and Silvano Lora, they past away in 2003. HUSORI on March 24, and Silvano Lora on July 12. We
still remember and miss them. Two Dominican intellectuals of the highes levels. They wrote the introduction to the catalog
of the art exhibit, 'Analysis in Variation' by visual artist F. A. Rodríguez. It was based on the painting by the Spanish
master Diego Velázquez, 'The Weavers' or 'The Fable of Arachne' painted in 1644-48. Its source is Greek mythology and the
eternal battle between humans and the gods. The opening night was on February 2nd, 1989 at the Dominican Institute of Hispanic
Culture, in the Colonial Zone of the Dominican capital Santo Domingo, designated cultural patrimony of humanity by the United
Nations.

Estamos celebrando el legado intelectual de nuestros amigos
Don Humberto Soto-Ricart y Silvano Lora, ellos fallecieron en el año 2003. HUSORI el 24 de Marzo y Silvano Lora el dia
12 de julio. Los recordamos y nos hacen falta. Dos intelectuales Dominicanos de los más altos niveles. Ellos escribieron la
introducción al catálogo de la exhibición, 'Análisis en Variación' del artista visual F. A. Rodríguez. El análisis esta basado
en la pintura del maestro español Diego Velázquez 'Las Hilanderas' o 'La Fabula de Aracne', ejecutada en los años 1644-48.
El tema proviene de la mitología Griega y es la eterna batalla entre los humanos y los dioses. La noche de apertura fué el
dia 2 de Febrero del año 1989, en los salones del Instituto Dominicano de Cultura Hispánica, en la zona colonial de la capital
Dominicana, designada patrimonio cultural de la humanidad por las Naciones Unidas.

Humberto Soto-Ricart, escritor, critico de arte y periodista, con más de 50 años de experiencia en publicaciones culturales.
El escribió en la introducción al catálogo:'F. A. Rodríguez, artista dinámico e investigador, nos presenta esta individual,
con el aporte de quien ha investigado y logrado reunir imágenes que han surgido con certezas de un tema único, y desglosarlo
a la saciedad, sin apartarse de la temática que ingeniosamente seleccionó como un auto-reto a su sentido de la diversificación
de la imagen'.

Humberto Soto-Ricart, writer, art critic and journalist, with more than 50 years of experience in cultural publications and
newspapers, wrote: 'F. A. Rodríguez dynamic artist and investigator, bring us this individual exhibit, the contribution
of someone that has investigated, bringing us images with certainty from a unique theme, breaking it down to satiety, without
changing the theme that he ingeniously selected, like a challenge to his sense of the diversification of the image'. HUSORI,

Silvano Lora, member of AICA (International Association of Art Critics), wrote in the introduction to the catalog: 'We hope
that the spectator grasp in this exhibition by F. A. Rodríguez: the creative part that envelop the painting of Diego Velázquez,
"Las Hilanderas". Attentive to this series of paintings, in which FAR confronts the critics with a sure individuality,
putting forward the same way as the ingenious spanish painter of the Golden Century: assuming the platonic concept, that beauty
is the splendor of the true and breaking with the trap of adulation to his Majesty and the aristocracy of the time, he faced
the myths and archetypes representing the gods, monarchs and buffoons with flesh and bones. Without caring to confront ugliness,
not because of the abominable in it, but willing to look under the clothes and the skin to the soul of a heart that suffers'.

Silvano Lora, miembro de AICA (Asociación Internacional de
Críticos de Arte), escribió en la introducción al catálogo: 'Aguardamos que el espectador capte en ésta exposición de
F. A. Rodríguez: la parte eventualmente creadora que gravita alrededor de la obra de Diego Velázquez "Las Hilanderas".
Atentos que ésta serie de cuadros, con la que FAR enfrenta la crítica con una individualidad de peso, proponiendo de la misma
manera que lo hizó el genial pintor español del Siglo de Oro: recurrir a la concepción platónica de que lo bello sea el esplendor
de lo verdadero y rompiendo con la camisa de fuerza de la adulación a Su Majestad y la aristocracia de entonces, que enfrentó
los mitos y arquetipos representado los dioses, monarcas y bufones con carne y huesos verdaderos. Sin importarle asumir lo
feo, no por lo abominable en sí, sino que deja ver por debajo de un ropaje y piel no placentera el alma de un corazón que
